APS copes with any cargo size

17 August 2016

Transportation route: Russia – Lithuania – Poland
Cargo dimensions: 10,7 m х 4,8 m х 3,25 m
Weight: 38 tons

1.jpg Early in the morning we arrived at the place of loading. The loading length of our semi-trailer - 9,6 m., cargo length – 10,7 m. It was previously decided to extend the platform by 1,5 m. to make placing of oversized plates and cargo fastening easier. Loading with a hoisting crane took about 20 minutes. Then the cargo was fastened with chains and set off. The first obstacle awaited us already at the exit from the territory of the shipper: the width of the gates was 4.8 m. and width of the platform with the cargo – just over 4,75 m. Slowly, but confidently, this stage was passed.

2.jpg Straps and chains are properly tightened – we can go.

4.png A special permission was given to our team for moving through Moscow territory from 00.00 a.m. to 06.00 a.m. The pilots arrived on time having the action plan scheduled for several days in advance. During the movement the semi-trailer occupied two traffic lanes, but 60 tons of the total mass did not interfere with the oncoming traffic of cars: pilot cars, 2 beacons on a vehicle cab, 12 stroboscopes, plates (signs) with red and white lights and a deafening signal caused the car flow to give way to our trailer truck.

Road works were another obstacle expecting APS team. However, well-coordinated work of the pilot car drivers and the professionalism of oversize truckload drivers helped to overcome this road section without significant time losses.

6.jpg Passing through the customs was carried out on the oncoming lane due to a large size of the cargo. Drivers of the pilot cars provided safe transport movement, so there were no difficulties moving across Lithuania.

7.jpg Moving through Poland territory was organized in the following way: the first pilot car blocked the road a few kilometers ahead, the second was engaged in the dismantling half a kilometer ahead and the third – returned everything to its places after semi-trailer passing.

8.jpg On approach to the place of unloading we were met by picturesque places, beautiful nature, but too narrow roads. Therefore, our drivers had to completely stop the oncoming and passing streams of cars.

9.jpg Such transportation always requires increased caution on the road, the proper competence of specialists and rigorous preparations. All of the above allowed us to add the next solved task to APS experience bank!
