Route: Spain – Russia
Vehicles: low-bed semitrailer, 5 megatrailers
Cargo: printing press, 72 tons
Client’s request
One-time delivery of printing press parts within a specified time frame.
Project description
The printing press was taken apart for the transportation, but even then the size of one part (5.32 m х 2.96 m х 3.49 m, 36 t) exceeded admissible parameters. The transportation of the cargo with such dimensions requires special permissions for a transit through all the countries of the route.
The client declared the parts of the printing press as one product, thus all the six trucks had to arrive at the Сustoms office of destination at the same time.
APS solution
The project involved two types of vehicles: oversized part of the machine was loaded onto the specialized low-bed semitrailer Faymonville, while all the others were loaded in five megatrailers.
The permissions for a transit of oversized cargo through all the countries of the route were ordered beforehand. It was essential to take into account every nuance of French and Spanish officials’ work. Preparation of the permission in France takes from 6 to 10 weeks. There is another specificity in Spain besides vehicle’s documentation, documents from the manufacturer of the trucks and semi-trailers with detailed descriptions of vehicle in Spanish were required as well.
The delivery date depended on the low-bed semi-trailer’s speed, which carried the outsized part of the cargo. The movement with such a cargo throughout France is possible only on the national routes bypassing autobahns. pilot car is required while transporting an oversized cargo in Germany. We agreed with the client to load the machines a week earlier to ensure all these obstacles do not slow down the delivery pace.
APS staff has coordinated the drivers’ work correctly, so all the six drivers arrived at the Сustoms office of destination at the same time. A few actions remained to be taken: to perform the customs clearance and unload the printing press.
