2021 started with a mass vaccination against COVID-19 of the population of the whole globe. The role of transport companies willing to undertake the responsibility for delivery of vaccines to different countries is enhancing. We are sharing the experience of APS and peculiarities of carrying a COVID-19 vaccine.
Like other pharmaceuticals, the vaccine is extremely demanding on storage and transportation conditions. From the moment of manufacture to direct use, its temperature must be maintained within strict limits. Even a slight change in it affects negatively the potency of the product.
To carry the vaccine, APS exploits refrigerated semi-trailers certified for transportation of pharmaceuticals in accordance with the GDP international standards. The refrigeration unit Carrier allows to keep the temperature range in the semi-trailer from -30°C to +30°C*.
* At a set limit temperature and its significant discrepancy with the ambient temperature, slight deviations are possible.
The APS refrigerated trucks are equipped with telematics system, which allow to monitor 24/7 the statuses of:
- temperature;
- opening/closing the doors of the semi-trailer;
- alarm and coupling modes.
A notification on change of any of the statuses are sent via an SMS or email, which allows to control with ease the crucial aspect – the temperature inside the semi-trailer, as well as to take measures timely in case of unauthorized actions in relation to the cargo.
Refrigerated trucks make up one third of the APS fleet. This number of vehicles allows to respond to the clients’ requests swiftly and provide a truck for loading even on the applying day.
Not only did the COVID-19 pandemic make business to adjust to the new reality, but it also revealed new prospects of development. For APS, the delivery of the vaccine is another opportunity to prove a responsible approach to work and the quality of provided transport services.
